Jesse Martin never knew what it meant to belong anywhere until he moved to the small town of El Jardin, NM. Something about the town called to him, and he set about doing what he could to fit in. If that meant keeping some parts of himself separate, tucked away from prying eyes, then that was what he'd do.
Caden Tomas moved to El Jardin to escape the memories of a vicious attack that left him a shattered, broken man. The physical wounds would heal, but the emotional ones seemed insurmountable. Unable to leave his home for more than a brief walk to the mailbox, Caden's isolation was just one more torment that ate away at his hopes of ever recovering.
Two men, each with their own personal demons, living only yards across from one another. Each is fascinated by the other, but unable to find a way to breach the problems that keep them apart. The solution comes in the form of one yappy little poodle, Loopy. His frequent escapes from Caden's yard gives Jesse a reason to approach his neighbor, and form a tenuous bond that will heal their wounds and maybe, just maybe, end their lonely nights.
Publisher's Note This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable Male/male sexual practices.

This was such a very good book. I really "felt" for both Jesse in his newly discovered love for Caden and for Caden who was reaching past his own fears to accept it. I am new to reading this genre introduced to it by reading fantasy. I truly did not expect to love this story as much as I did and found myself reading late into the night and early in the morning. It is what inspired me to actually carry my Kindle beyond the confines of my home. The characters were authentic, their conflict was so real, and really opened to my eyes to what others whose love is not considered "acceptable" really go through. While the resolution may not be one that all can seek for aid, it is one that I cheered.
The author did a fabulous job in enabling the reader to connect. To say much more is to give the story away. It's definitely worth a read.

Something Shattered Bailey Bradford 9781611183672 Books Reviews
This book had good characters and was just ok. Several things were drawn out with and moved very slow but all of a sudden in the last chapter everything is resolved and perfect.
I did not enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed this author's other works. It just missed the mark for me. It is very well written, the characters are all well developed, the setting is great, but what started as a great story suddenly progressed in leaps and bounds and then suddenly, its over and everyone's problems are solved. ????
Very good read. Jesse is a cop in El Jardin NM a small town. He's noticed the neighbor across the trailer park is reclusive and hot. The neighbor, Caden was brutally beaten outside his gated home and is shattered. Jesse and Caden find one another and have the courage and love to deal with the hate and antagonism which they encounter.
I love to read saga's! Couldn't put it down! Waiting for more from this author!!!!!!
I loved this book. It is a sweet love story with some added hot sex. Caden Tomas is dealing with agoraphobia, brought on by a tragic incident in his life. Jesse Martin, his neighbor also is hiding part of himself from small-town homophobia. This beautiful love story shows how two men come together and tackle their fears.
I read the sample and was really looking forward to this story. Main character development was decent, but the secondary characters' development was shallow and left me asking "How & why did they get to this point?". If you want to introduce a secondary or supporting plot line, then fully commit to it don't just drop hinting mentions from time to time. It's annoying! The plot line mystery that peaks your interest at the start, does not sustain and was not smoothly executed.
Okay, someone (hetero???, we never find out) hates and has in for our heroes, for the usual gay romance reason; but we never find out how and why! Most of the conflict scenes were too rushed (more like wham, bam, and now what?). I normally don't [read never] complain about story having too much sex (especially pretty, well done sex), but I got the feeling it was used whenever the author couldn't figure how to close out scene any other way. Definitely, not a keeper at least not for me. I do not re-read stories that annoy me.
I enjoyed this book, although I must say I would have enjoyed it more if the sex scenes had been a bit less. The sex seemed to start overpowering the plot about 1/3 - 1/2 the way through, just when I was totally hooked on the plot. Jesse is a small-town cop, living across the street from an attrative, mysterious recluse, Caden. The characters were very endearing, including Caden's family. I would have liked to know about them a bit more, especially what happened to his brother-in-law, as well as what happened in Jesse's department after Caden's big "out". Sometimes I like to fill in the blanks myself, but not in this case. All in all, though, a good read with likable characters and a good plot.
